Inspire Iowa’s Future is a nonprofit organization created to honor Jen Garcia, a dedicated wife, mom, teacher and friend, who passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2016. As a teacher, Jen was energized by the new faces and young lives at the start of school each fall. She wanted that energy to provide inspiration that would carry on through the year. It was her devotion that sparked the idea of a speaker series for students and those who support them.
Through the speaker series, students and their mentors – parents, teachers, coaches, sponsors – get to hear uplifting, encouraging and thought-provoking messages from local and nationally recognized individuals. These talks kick off the school year by equipping the youth and the adults with tools and perspectives to use in the face of trials or simply to help choose a positive approach to each day.
Inspire Iowa’s Future focuses on reaching middle school, high school and college students, as well as those who interact and do life with these teens and young adults. It’s an opportunity for teams and organizations to rally together, step up and discover what leaders can accomplish. It’s seeing and feeling the impact of today’s inspired attitudes and actions on the future of not only our state, but our country and world.
